VM Labs - VM Labs was the company behind the Nuon technology which was used in several DVD players from Samsung, Toshiba, & RCA. The Nuon technology brought features which other DVD players didn't have at the time (around 2000), such as playing games created for Nuon, visual effects while playing audio CDs (provided by VLM (Virtual Light Machine) which was created by Jeff Minter), 128 speed rewinding/fast forwarding, zooming up to 16x & many more features. DVD recordable - DVD recordable and DVD rewritable refer to DVD optical disc formats that can be recorded (written, "burned"), either [once|write once] or rewritable (write multiple times) format written by laser, as compared to DVD-ROM, which is mass-produced by pressing. DVD recordable is a general term that refers to both write-once and rewritable formats, whereas DVD rewritable refers only to rewritable formats. DVD Player (software) - DVD Player (formerly Apple DVD Player) is the default DVD player in Mac OS X. It supports all the standard DVD features such as multiple audio, video & subtitle tracks as well as Dolby audio, DVD@ccess URLs, closed captions and choose which VOB file to open. DVD-RAM - DVD-RAM (DVD–Random Access Memory) is a disc specification presented in 1996 by the DVD Forum, which specifies rewritable DVD-RAM media and the appropriate DVD writers. DVD-RAM media have been used in computers as well as camcorders and personal video recorders since 1998.
